CARMEL – Mary Catherine Lowe, 48, wife of Brian P. Lowe and mother of Ariane and Megan died unexpectedly Feb. 9, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. Mary was born Oct. 15, 1956, in Houlton, the daughter, of Basil and Margaret (Qualey) McAvoy She grew up in Benedicta and attended St. Benedict Elementary School. She graduated from Katahdin High School, Class of 1974. Mary married Brian P. Lowe in Benedicta July 12, 1980. She was employed as an administrative secretary at Acadia Hospital in Bangor. Mary was a member of the Carmel Union Congregational Church and a former Deaconess at the Church. She was a member of the Golden Harvest Grange of Carmel. She is survived by her mother, Margaret McAvoy of Benedicta; her husband of 25 years, Brian P. Lowe of Carmel; two daughters, Ariane W. Lowe of Hudson, Fla., Megan R. Lowe of Carmel; three brothers and their wives, Edward and Ona McAvoy of Benedicta, Leo and Geri McAvoy of Benedicta, Daniel and Barbara McAvoy of Sherman; three sisters, Elizabeth and her husband, Mike Elwell, of Sherman, Patricia Cochrane of East Chatham, N.Y., Anna McAvoy of Hingham Mass.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be fondly remembered by her mother-in-law, Gloria Lowe; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Lowe, Dawn Lowe and Gregg Woodard. She was predeceased by her father, Basil McAvoy; her father-in-law, Everett Lowe, her sister, Linda Bouchard; and her brother-in-law, Wayne Lowe.Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, from the Carmel Union Congregational Church, Carmel, with the Rev. Burt Williams Pastor officiating. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday Feb. 14, 2005, from St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Benedicta, where Mary was a communicant while growing up, with Fr.
