ORRINGTON – Mary E. Vanidestine, 74, wife of the late Edward J. Vanidestine Sr., died March 28, 2005, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 17, 1930, in Bangor, the daughter of George and Mary (Cleaves) Chapman Sr. Mary was a retired Mental Health Worker from Bangor Mental Health Institute, a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. Mary was often called Betty. She spread her love of life to everyone; her caring and giving was felt by many. She loved to go camping and fishing at Moosehead Lake and play Beano. She also loved spending time with her family and being with all her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She is survived by her 11 children, Edward Jr. and his wife, Mary Vanidestine, of Brewer, Herbert and his wife, Pat, of New Hampshire, Millie and her husband, Ray Douglass of Hermon, Tim Vanidestine and his wife, Linda, of Orrington, Patty and her husband, Dick Blanchard, of Carmel, Marie and her husband, Lenny Tracy of Hermon, Jeff Vanidestine and his wife, Joni Sue, of Orrington, Shirley and her husband, Michael Payer of Dedham, Barbara and her husband, Dennis Allen, of Orrington, Gerry and her husband, Bud Pomroy, of Holden, Gwen and her husband, Pete Caron, of Bangor; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grand-children; and her siblings, sisters, half sister and brothers and half brothers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Katherine Clifford, Shirley White; four brothers, Timothy Chapman, Robert Chapman Sr., Philip Chapman, and Gary Chapman. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, with Rev. Joel Cyr, officiating.
