BANGOR – Mary Ellen “Ellie” McGinty MacNevin, 95, died June 26, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born Aug. 10, 1908, in Bangor, the daughter of Eben Gibbs and Mary (Wentworth) Vickery. Ellie graduated from Bangor High School and attended the Maine School of Commerce. She was employed in the office of Elizabeth Firth, public stenographer and Harold Marsh, stocks and bonds. Ellie was a member of the AARP. She married James E. McGinty and operated Mecca Spa for many years and he predeceased her in 1956. She remarried Neil A. MacNevin in 1966 and he predeceased her in 1976. She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn and her husband, Lawrence Brewster, of Bangor; three grandchildren, Robin and David Brewster of Bangor, Joanna and her husband, Fred Cullins, of Forest Grove, Ore.; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Sean Cullins of Forest Grove, Ore., James Cullins of Bangor, Heather and Ashley Brewster of Bangor. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille officiating. Friends may call from 12 noon until time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the services to the Brookings-Smith, Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be sent to a charity of ones choice.
