AUGUSTA – Mary M. (Roy) Robichaud died Tuesday Nov. 22, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta. She was born July 24, 1924, in Augusta, the daughter of the late Henry and Johanna (McNamara) Roy. Mrs. Robichaud was a communicant of St. Augustine Parish in Augusta and was involved for many years in several aspects of parish life. She was the past president of the Ladies of Ste. Anne Society. She served as an Extraordinary minister of Communion for many years along with her late husband Raymond. She was a school volunteer in the parish’s Confraternity of Christian Doctrine program. She also served as the chairperson of the first St. Augustine Parish Bazaar. Mrs. Robichaud volunteered her time and talent with the March of Dimes, the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross as well as the Easter Seal Society. She spent many years helping to raise funds for these worthy causes. Mary also served as an assistant leader for the Girls Scouts of America. Mrs. Robichaud worked for the State Registry of Motor Vehicles in Augusta. She also served as ward clerk for the City of Augusta for more than 40 years. She held memberships in the Cushnoc Senior Citizens, La Societe des Artisans, and was a longtime volunteer at St. Paul’s Center in Augusta. She was also a charter member of the “Friendly’s Restaurant” breakfast bunch. Her great love was caring for her family, her husband, Ray, and her children and grandchildren. When asked what her hobbies were, it was always being a wife, mother and memere. The Family would like to express its thanks to all that offered their prayers for her during her brief illness. Her many friends, morning Mass “buddies” and acquaintances who called or visited helped to make her days more enjoyable. She was grateful to all of you for the many kindnesses that you showed her in helping her to attend morning Mass, breakfast, and her radiation treatments. Thanks, too, to her card playing friends who even until shortly before her death came to play “just a few hands for nickels only,” and just helped her to forget for a time what in the end came too quickly. The family is also grateful to MaineGeneral Heal-thReach HomeCare and Hospice, especially Sherry Pratt, CNA, and Debbie Heald, R.N. and their colleagues who helped make Mom’s last days at home possible. Many thanks also to her friends at Friendly’s whom she enjoyed seeing every day and who treated her as one of their own. Her husband, Raymond G. Robichaud, predeceased her in 1994; She is survived by her three children, Rev. James P. Robichaud, Susan Dumont and her husband, Mark and Kathy Demers, survive her; her five grandchildren, Kristyn, Katelyn and Ian Dumont and Rachel and Jenna Demers also survive her. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at St. Augustine Church, Northern Avenue, Augusta, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to St. Augustine Parish Ladies of Ste. Anne or MaineGeneral Health-Reach HomeCare & Hospice.
