DEDHAM – Mary Virginia Shaulis Files, 82, died peacefully, Feb. 18, 2005, at a Brewer nursing home. She was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Williamsburg, Va., the daughter of Lloyd Lorenzo and Mary Agnes (O’Leary) Shaulis. Virginia graduated from Medford High School in 1940 and went on to graduate from Jackson College (Tufts) in 1944. She married her childhood sweetheart, George E. Files, Aug. 20, 1943. Virginia taught in the biology department at Tufts during World War II. She was a research scientist of Tropical Medicine at the National Institutes of Health and also a professional potter with the United Maine Craftsmen. She is survived by her children, Virginia Ann Files of Dedham, George Michael Files of Dedham, Mary Esther Bouley of Sedgwick, Christopher Lloyd Files and his wife, Kimberly Ann Files, of Dedham; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Marcus, Jaclyn Files, Eric and Jordan Bouley, Ian and Kiel Snyder; a great-grandchild, two nieces, three nephews, a loving and loyal friend, Roberta Holzer of Gallipolis, Ohio. In addition to her husband who predeceased her in 1995, she was predeceased by a sister, Ellen M. Crist. Memorial services will be private for the family. Interment will be in the spring at Pine Hill Cemetery, Peterborough, N.H. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
