BREWER – Maxine Elizabeth Hathaway, 90, wife of the late Kenneth “Ted” Hathaway, died Feb. 9, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1914, in Hermon, the daughter of Charles H. and Molly C. (Bryant) Canty. Maxine was a resident of the Burr House in Brewer and loved being part of that special family. She was so thankful for the loving care given by Judy Blanchard, the home’s owner/operator, as well as other dedicated staff. It really was “home” for Maxine. She and her husband, “Ted”, were clear on the important values of life…God first, family (especially daughter Ann) second and vocation third. Maxine was a dedicated member of the East Orrington Congregational Church, and charter member of the churches 3T’S small group ministry called S.A.L.T. (Sharing Always Lightens Troubles). She was a graduate of Castine Normal School and a member of the retired teachers association. She will be missed by her daughter, Ann; her Church family and a special friend, Evelyn Bull. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at the East Orrington Congregational Church with the Rev. Adam T. Soderberg, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will be at Dean Hill Cemetery, Orrington. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, ME 04474.
