HOULTON – Maxine Hare Bubar, 93, died March 26, 2007, at her residence. She was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Monticello, the daughter of Fred Lester and Jennie (Ross) Hare. Maxine was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, where she was the church pianist of several years. In the 1940s, she directed a junior choir and also taught a Sunday school class there. She was a graduatefrom Ricker Classical Institute and Aroostook State Normal School. She taught 22 years in the schools of Monticello, Littleton and Houlton, and nine years at Treehaven School, Tucson, Ariz. Maxine was past president of the United Methodist Women; a member of the Retired Maine Teachers’ Association and the National Education Association. Maxine is survived by several cousins; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Farrar, and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Suitter; and her church family at the Monticello Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence E. Bubar, in 1988. Friends may call 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service 11 a.m. at Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Forman Swallow officiating.
