BANGOR and ORONO – Wonderful, enthusiastic, positive, Christian, 20 year-old daughter and wife, Melissa Ranson Woodrow, passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005. Born Jan. 6, 1985, in Plantation, Fla. the daughter of Rolland and Jana Lawyer Ranson. A 2003 graduate of Orono High School, she was enrolled and taking classes at the University of Maine Augusta, Bangor campus. Melissa is survived by her husband, Matthew Woodrow; on her father’s side she is survived by her father, Rolland Ranson; her dearly loved closely held twin sister, Monica; her beloved brother, Todd and his wife, Wendy; her brother, Brent; her dearly loved cousins, Melanie and Natasha Holmes, Sherida and Suzanne Ranson; niece, Bailey; nephew, Tyler Ranson, Jeff Ranson, Jenny and Jeremy Link, Mark and Ann-Marie Lumley, Chris and Tara Mercer, Stephen Hawkins. Her beloved uncles and aunts, Don and Gail Ranson, Dave and Deana Ranson, John Ranson, Terry Hawkins and Kathy Ranson Hawkins, Don and Louise Ranson Mains, Brien and Slyvia Ranson Holmes. Her grandmother, Ingri Alexander and grandfather, Ben Alexander. On her mother’s side she is survived by her mother, Jana (Lawyer) and husband, Jim Blair; her beloved sister, Amy and husband, Joe Carter; her dearly loved cousins, Tina (Lawyer) LaDuke and Nina (Lawyer) Hall and husbands Daniel and John; nephews, Tyler and Tanner Carter; cousins, Kevin and Denise Lanni. Her beloved uncles and aunts, Mike and Hati Lawyer, Tammy and Kevin Keogh; her grandmother, Jody Lawyer and grandfather, Claude Lawyer; she is also survived by her in-laws, John and Elaine Woodrow, Adam and Kate Woodrow and children. The many prayers around the world and the many gifted medical people at EMMC kept our wonderful Melissa here for 12 days peacefully battling inner brain trauma (and other severe injuries) complications from an auto accident…giving time for Melissa’s friends and family from all over the world to arrive and share and grieve and laugh and pray with her… then she knew it was time to move onto life in heaven, leaving a wealth of wonderful memories for all. A funeral celebration will take place 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Orono United Methodist Church, 36 Oak St., Orono, with the Rev. David L. Grainger, pastor, officiating. A time of remembrance and refreshments, hosted by the United Methodist Women, will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers friends are encouraged to make donations to Orono United Methodist Church, directed specifically to Youth Ministry, 36 Oak St., Orono, ME 04473, as a memorial to Melissa.
