WATERFORD, Conn. – Melvin L. Jandreau, 66, of 12 Terrace Drive, died Sunday morning, Nov. 12, 2006, at Bayview Healthcare Center. He was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Portland, the son of Leon Jandreau of St. Francis and the late Cora O’Claire Jandreau. He was the former husband of Barbara Garnier Jandreau. He was retired from the Electric Boat Co., Groton Conn., where he had been employed as a ship fitter. He had also been employed as a union ironworker and an accountant. Mr. Jandreau had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the New London American Legion and the Montville VFW. Mel, in his early years, was an avid scuba diver and loved the game of bowling. He was a big fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He enjoyed laughter with friends and family, and was always in pursuit of great jazz music. He was also known for tearing up the rug while in pursuit of good music. He will be greatly missed and will always be in our prayers! He is survived by a son, Mark Jandreau of Clearwater, Fla.; two stepsons, Danny Turcotte of Tolland, Conn. and Steven Milner of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four brothers, James Jandreau and his wife, Judy, of Rock Hall, Md., John Jandreau and his wife, Tracy, of Alpharetta, Ga., Thomas Jandreau and his wife, Dawn, of Winterport and William Jandreau and his wife, Cindy, of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Angela LaFlamme and her husband, Bruce, of West Newbury, Mass.; a grandson, Alex Jandreau; his best friend, Stanley Bednez of Niantic Conn.; and his faithful Yorkie, “Cricket.” The funeral services are private. A memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Our Lady of LaSalette, Route 6, Brooklyn, Conn. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
