FRANKLIN – Melvin M. Murphy, 52, died March 13, 2005, at a Portland hospital. He was born in Hancock, Aug. 17, 1952, the son of Melvin E. and Sadie (Lindsey) Murphy. He owned and operated M&M Salvage for 26 years in Eastbrook. Melvin enjoyed classic cars and hunting. Melvin is survived by his special friend, Sandra Robbins; seven sons, Peter Carney and wife, Nancy, of Hancock, William Carney and wife, Lisa, of Surry, Curtis “Sonny” Carney of Sullivan, David Carney and wife, Kathy, Michael Murphy and wife, Rose, Brock Murphy and friend, Amanda, all of Eastbrook, Joe Murphy and wife, Deborah, of Waltham; Shawna, who has been like his own daughter; a brother, Clifford Murphy and wife, Melissa, of Hancock; sisters, Mary Ellen Murphy, Annabelle Frye, Dawn Curtis, all of Ellsworth, Alberta Merchant of Eastbrook, Lorraine Hatch of Sullivan and Molly Battis of Hancock; eighteen grandchildren; special friends, Mike and Cheryl Robbins of Sorrento, Roger and Shirley Belanger of Dexter, Lee Gray of Ellsworth, Wink and Julie Lancaster of Bradley and Cecil “Jr” Gray of Columbia Falls. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Carol; three brothers, Kevin, Timothy and Joseph. A service of rememberance will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
