FAYETTEVILLE, N.C – Melvin Paul O’Clair, 72, formerly of Ashland, died Jan. 3, 2006, at a North Carolina medical facility. He was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Sheridan, the son of William and Emelda O’Clair. A career soldier, he served honorably in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He is survived by his wife, Micheline Febvay O’Clair of Fayetteville, N.C.; three sons, Vincent of Presque Isle, Victor of New Gloucester and Michael of Lumberton, N.C.; three daughters, Linda Williams of Hampton, Va., Carolle Butler of Hernando, Fla. and Christine Burke of Fayetteville, N.C.; four brothers, Norman and William Jr. of Ashland, Hubert of Fork Union, Va. and Armand of Herman; five sisters, Marie Gillespie of Otisville, N.Y., Florence Kinney of Vandalia, Ill., Jo-An Walton of Berlin, N.H., Nancy Conley of Fletcher, N.C. and Catherine Herson of Morrill. He will be fondly remembered by 11 grandchildren, six aunts, two uncles, 39 nieces and nephews and 74 cousins. He was predeceased by his parents of Ashland, a grandson, Ronnie Butler Jr. of Florida; three brothers, Frederick, Victor, and Lawrence; and one sister, Geneva Mary formerly of Ashland.
