STOCKTON SPRINGS – Michael Chris Johnson, 50, died unexpectedly June 12, 2005, at Stockton Springs, after spending the day doing what he loved and was successful at racing at Winterport Dragway. He was born May 10, 1955, in Bangor, the son of Robert W. and Clara M. (Patten) Johnson. He loved his family and enjoyed racing cars at different venues, baseball, basketball, and bowling. He was a general contractor and was very proud of the business that he established over the last 35 years. He was active in many areas of the Stockton Springs community, including the volunteer fire department. He was well known, well liked, and will be missed by many. Michael is survived by his wife of nearly 29 years, Denise (Burpee) Johnson, of Stockton Springs; his son, Sean Johnson of Stockton Springs; his mother, Clara Johnson, of Stockton Springs; three siblings, Marie Johnson of Stockton Springs, Terry Johnson, of Stockton Springs, Robert Johnson and his wife, Sharon, of Kensington, N.H.; in-laws, Dee Burpee, Boyd Burpee and his wife, Sue, of Eddington, Chuck Ordway and his wife, Mary of N.C.; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Amee, Brian, Nicole, Nathan; several aunts, uncles, cousins; many close friends. Michael was predeceased by his father, Robert Johnson. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005, at the Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, at the Stockton Springs Community Church with the Rev. Art Cotton, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Prospect Cemetery, Stockton Springs.
