PITTSFIELD and WINTHROP Michael D. Reed, 50, passed away at the VA Togus Hospital Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, after he lost his battle with liver disease and cancer of the liver. He was born in Hartland, youngest child of the late Geraldine (Tilton) Reed and the late Donald Reed. Mike was raised in Pittsfield, attended Maine Central Institute but received his GED from Nokomis High School, in Newport. He joined the Army in July, 1972 and was honorably discharged in February, 1975. Mike married Marie (Colsrud), and had two wonderful children, Joshua and Amy. The four of them made a happy family until Marie’s death from Huntington’s Disease in 1994. In 2000, Mike got married a second time to Billie-Jo (Wyman). They moved to Winthrop in 2001 and started a second family when they were blessed with a baby girl, Meghan Paige. Mikey worked in the construction field and drove dump truck for J&D Builders, for most of his working years. He was honored to work for Jock Lasselle, for they were the best of friends. He will be sadly missed by Jock and Connie Lasselle and family. Mikey enjoyed many outdoor activities: snowmobiling, four-wheeling, fishing, and hunting, with a favorite in turkey hunting. He also loved to play poker with friends and family. Mike was predeceased by his parents, and his first wife, Marie. He will continue to live on through his surviving family, his wife, Billie-Jo; son, Joshua and wife, Emmalee; and two special daughters, Amy and Meghan. He is also survived by the precious Maria, who made him a proud Grampy. He sadly leaves behind all of his siblings, Roger Reed, Robert Reed and wife, Sharon, the Rev. Larry Reed and wife, Carolyn, Dennis Reed, Donna Wilder, Rosemary Honeyman and husband, Jerome, and Delaine Gillis. He leaves behind all of his in-laws, Delmont and Carol Wyman, Craig Ardry and wife, Nanette, and Kimberly Slimm. Also, he leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be sadly missed by his “white dog named KoKo”. To fulfill Mike’s last wishes, his arrangements will be made through Direct Cremation of Maine. There will be celebration of his life 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at his home on the Carlton Pond Road in Winthrop. <>
