POQUOSON, VA. and NEWPORT – Michelle (Ray) Lafferty, 19, died June 14, 2006, at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va. She was born Feb. 7, 1987, at Parkersburg, W. Va., a daughter of Michael and Diane (Zents) Ray. She had been a member of the Junior ROTC and was the director of Peds Wheels, a non-profit organization decorating wheelchairs for children. In addition to her parents of Parkersburg, W. Va.; and husband, Neal of Virginia, she is survived by a son, Remy Lafferty of Poquoson, Va.; two brothers, Michael Jr. and Steven Ray of Parkersburg, W. Va.; a sister, Sharon Arps of Columbus, Ohio; her mother-in-law, Lynn (Ludlow) Lafferty and nephew, Devin of Derry, N.H. She was predeceased by her grandmother-in-law, Margie Ludlow. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at High Street Congregational Church, Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating.
