MARYVILLE, Tenn. and FORT FAIRFIELD – Mildred A. Simmons, 80, died on Jan. 30, 2004, at her home in Maryville, Tenn. She was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Daniel Simmons and Isabel (Jones) Simmons. She graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1941. She is survived by her husband, William R. Topping; two sons, William Jr. of Connecticut, and Bruce Topping and his wife, Linda, of Maryville, Tenn.; a daughter, Patricia Godden of Bellow Falls, Vt.; and a sister, Dawn Deschesne of Fort Fairfield; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
