WEBSTER PLANTATION Mildred A. Smith, “Pinky,” 77, wife of the late George E. Smith, passed away June 13, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Danforth, the daughter of Reggie and Mae (Comeau) Mailman. Mildred enjoyed going to music jams and working in her flower garden. She liked to go to yard sales, enjoyed picking strawberries, and canning pickles and other things. She is survived by three sons, Richard Smith and Marilyn of North Carolina, William Smith Sr. and Tammy, and Ernest Smith and Lisa, all of West Enfield; two daughters, Janice Flegert and John of Massachusetts and Georgina York of Howland; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by two daughters, Dorothy Doane and Sheila Payne; a son, Georgie Smith; five brothers and five sisters. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Swan officiating.
