OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Mildred B. Stone, wife of the late J. Arthur Stone, formerly of Bangor and Scotts Neck, Green Lake, died Sept. 25, 2006, in Saco. She was born in Boston, the daughter of George R. and Helen (Reid) MacGillvray. Mildred graduated from Dorchester High School and Burdett Business School. She was a member of All Souls Congregational Church, where she served on many committees. Mildred was an honorary mem-ber of Shakespeare Club of Bangor and a life member of the Bangor City Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her three daughters and their families, Judith Matthews of Irvine, Calif., Nancy and her husband, Dr. Paul Fergus, of Waltham, Mass., and Marcia and her husband, Neal Soper, of Old Orchard Beach; five grandchildren and their spouses, Ricardo and Lynn Matthews of California, Dr. Robert Matthews of New York, Nicole and Kevin Parke of North Carolina, Andrew and Katherine Fergus of Massachusetts and Jeffrey and Cacey Fergus of Utah; five great-grandchildren, Echo and Maximilliano Matthews of California, Thea and Elyse Fergus of Massachusetts and Mikenzy Fergus of Utah; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Frank Erickson of Weymouth, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; and an AFS daughter, Marjorie (Jenkins) Pickworth of Australia. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gordon and George MacGillvray. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, pastor and teacher, officiating. Interment will held immediately after the service at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the Church Vestry after the interment.
