CAPE ELIZABETH – Mildred I. Seabury, 81, of Village Crossing in Cape Elizabeth, and formerly of Loveit Street, South Portland, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at a Portland hospital. Mildred was born in Bangor, a daughter of Elmer M. and Gertrude M. Gowen Allen. She was educated in the Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1942, and attended Husson College. She attended the First Congregational Church in South Portland. For many years Mildred was a librarian at SMVTI in South Portland. During World War II she worked with the USO at Dow’s Air Force Base. Her hobbies were knitting, playing the piano and organ, BINGO and any other card games. She enjoyed her many friends and acquaintances, was very fond of animals with a great interest in cats and greatly enjoyed spending time with her children. Mildred married Richard W. Seabury Sept. 15, 1951. Predeceasing her was a daughter, Patricia M. Seabury in 1982; three brothers, Kenneth Allen, Arnold Allen, Roger Allen; and one sister, Gertrude Jellison. She will be sadly missed by her son, Warren A. Seabury of Groton, Conn.; a niece, Katherine Grover-Swift of New Gloucester; a sister-in-law, Martha Seabury of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; and her many very dear friends. Visiting hours will be 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
