SHERIDAN – Mildred M. Carney, 87, died March 13, 2005, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born June 13, 1917, in Sheridan, the daughter of Charles and Melvina (Burby) Goslin. She married Leonard J. Carney Nov. 9, 1936 and was a loving wife and mother who will be missed by her family and many friends. Mildred was known for her keen and dry wit and her charming smile. She is survived by one son, Gerald Carney and his wife, Darcy, of Washburn; four daughters, Elaine Willette of Presque Isle, Nancy Langley and her husband, Robert, of Indiana, Sandi Williams and her husband, Robert, of Missouri, and Judy Plourde of Sheridan; one sister, Fern Charette of Ashland; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her special friend, Lucy Dubay. Relatives and friends may call at the Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland, from 2 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Mark Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Hinken, SOLT, pastor, celebrant. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Intensive Care Unit at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, to whom the family is so grateful for their loving care and compassion during Mildred’s last several days.
