PERRY – Milton Jesse Pottle, 85, died June 26, 2004, at a Calais hospital after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Perry, the son of Jesse and Florence (Davis) Pottle. Milton was a veteran of World War II. He owned and operated his own construction business and he worked for several years as a fisherman. He loved gardening and was known for his strawberries. He also worked for the town of Perry for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was often found in the morning drinking coffee at the Perry Farmers Union. He was predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Lena (Gove) Pottle; and one brother, Merle MacNichol. He is survived by one son, Douglas M. Pottle and his wife, Anita; one daughter, Gloria Jean Harris and her husband, Lee, all of Perry; four grandchildren, Sharon M. Cook and husband, John, Shelley H. Arsenault and husband, Robert, all of Eastport, Shawn L. Harris and wife, Denise, Debora P. Owen and husband, Chris, all of Perry; five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Alice Pottle of Portland, Carolyn Shannon of South Portland. Friends and family may call 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Perry Congregational Church, where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Windhorst officiating. Interment will be in Bayview Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Perry Congregational Church or the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
