ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Mona Barbara (Graham) Young passed away Aug. 13, 2006, in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Centerville, New Brunswick, to Ford and Ruby Graham of Mars Hill. Mona was a devoted Christian who shared her strong faith and beliefs throughout life in efforts to bring others closer to the Lord. She dearly loved children of all ages, her family and friends, and she touched many lives through her quiet generosity by always giving to others. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Guam, Mona worked numerous years as a registered nurse in several hospitals and maintained her registered nursing license after retirement. She then worked several years for JC Penny Co., where she received many outstanding customer service performance pins and promotions to supervisory and training positions. Mona’s lifelong love of music was often shared with many as she greatly enjoyed playing piano and singing gospel selections. She was very frequently asked to perform by reason of her talent and ability of first soprano voice range. Among her absolute greatest joys in life was constant companion pet, Sammy, who she eventually taught to sing along with her for the entertainment of family and friends. Travel was another immense pleasure of Mona’s and she was particularly fond of the Orient, where she spent lengthy periods of time. Possessing a personal style, grace and elegance which was enhanced by her extremely outgoing personality and sense of humor, Mona always stood out in the crowd. Her smile and laughter brightened many lives around her as she selflessly gave of her time and energy. The hearts and minds of her family and friends shall ever remember Mona as a strong, intelligent, creative, independent woman who was most definitely her own person. She is survived by sons, Rick of Concord, N.H., and Randy of Orlando, Fla.; daughter-in-law, T.L. of Zephyrhills, Fla.; grandson, Scott and wife, Wendy; great-grandson, Armand “Ace”; great-granddaughter, Meridian “Dia” of Marietta, Ga.; grandson, J. Dalton and wife, Margery, of Wakefield, Mass.; sisters, Freda Naranjo of Chowchilla, Calif., and Glenna Peifer of Benton, Pa.; and brothers, Philip Graham of Port Charlotte, Fla., Harold Graham and Ralph Graham of Mars Hill; 41 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Young was predeceased by her sister, Ora Boone; and brother, Fred Graham. Memorial services, attended by numerous family members, friends and acquaintances, were held in Zephyrhills, Fla., and Concord, N.H. In her departure from this life, Mona B. Young imparted a lasting legacy of love and her spirit shall forever live on in the remembrance of her gracious and caring nature. She was laid to rest with her beloved husband, Morley J. Young, at Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord, N.H.
