MADAWASKA – Monique Gendreau, 55, died Dec. 22, 2005, at a Fort Kent hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 27, 1950, in Edmundston, N.B., Canada, the daughter of Willie and Angelina (Lagasse) Belanger. In addition to her mother of Baker Brook, N.B., she is survived by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Gendreau of Madawaska; one daughter, Christina Beaulieu and her husband, Freddy, of Rockland, Mass.; one son, Eric Gendreau of Caribou; one brother, Claude Belanger and his wife, Colleen, of Brockville, Ontario, Canada; one granddaughter, Chacity Gendreau; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father and by two brothers, Armand and Rino Belanger. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Daigle Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Monique’s family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the VNA of Aroostook, the local Hospice program and to the Oncology Department at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent for the outstanding quality of service that each provided during Monique’s need for medical care and assistance. In addition, a special acknowledgement of appreciation is extended to Marie Deschaine who dedicated herself to providing daily respite care for Monique at home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Monique’s memory to either the VNA, Hospice or NMMC Oncology Dept.
