BROOKSVILLE – Montez (Monty) R. Perkins, 96, passed gracefully Sept. 8, 2007. She was born Feb. 11, 1911. She was a guard for basketball state champions and salutatorian of Hampden Academy. She also graduated from Beal College. Monty worked as a wartime secretary to Governor Sewall, special hostess to a vice president, was sought after by presidents and ultimately director of Seal Bay Camp for Girls, Brooksville. She is survived by her son, Robert; daughter, Ann; grandchildren, Ann, Margaret and Christy; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Aaron, David, Hope, Maeve and Patrick. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred W. Perkins. Private family services were held Monday, Sept. 10, at Mount Rest Cemetery, Brooksville. Memorial services will be held later this fall. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Memory of Montez and Alfred Perkins, to the Athletic Fund, Brooksville Elementary School, 1527 Coastal Road, Brooksville, ME 04617.
