CORINNA – Shirley J. Hartley, 73, died Aug. 12, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 16, 1933, in Lowell, Mass., daughter of Roland and Marian (Virgie) Jacobson. She attended schools in Dover and Dexter. She was a member of the Corinna Literary Club, cooperative extension, Rainbow Girls, the Eastern Star and was a member of the SAD No. 48 school board from 1979 to 1991. She was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader in the late 60s. She was a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church for 50 years, where she sang in the choir, was a junior choir director and was the director until 2006. During her time as choir director she conducted several Easter musical cantatas and hosted church services singing with friends as the Trio. She is survived by her husband, Earl C. Hartley of Corinna; two sons and their wives, Steven and Marilee Hartley of Corinna, James and Maribeth Hartley of Somersworth, N.H.; four daughters and their husbands, Janet and Rich Miller of Taft, Calif., Laurel and David Robinson of Dexter, Barbara and Brent Mower of St. Albans, Judith Hartley and her fiance, Peter McCann, of Westerly, R.I.; one brother and his wife, Philip and Jane Jacobson; one sister and her husband, Gayle and Frank Verock; one dear aunt, Edith Wright of West Buxton; seven granddaughters, Christine Henigan, Kimberly Friend, Nicole Hartley, Jessica Miller, Denise Robinson, Lindsay Mower, Caroline Hartley; six grandsons, Ryan Miller, Jordan Miller, Jeffrey Miller, Benjamin Robinson, Steven Robinson, Matthew Mower; five great-granddaughters, Victoria Friend, Madisyn Hartley, Jillian Hartley, Morgan Robinson, Melody Miller; five great-grandsons, Cameron Miller, Dylan Hawthorne, Quinn Miller, Logan Miller, Ryan Friend; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Corinna United Methodist Church with Pastor Sharon Lovejoy and the Rev. Terrance McKinley officiating, with family burial services immediately after at the Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
