VERONA ISLAND – Muriel A. Meade, 94, died March 20, 2005, at her home on Verona Island. She was born Aug. 4, 1910, in Orland, the daughter of Capt. Roy A. and Ethel (Hopkins) Meade. Muriel lived in the family home on Verona Island for the last 84 years, where she enjoyed cooking for her brother and sisters. Christmas time with her family was always very important to her. Muriel loved watching the animals and feeding the birds out her windows. She is survived by two brothers, Fred Meade and Durward Meade; two sisters, Leola Meade and Elinor Meade, all of Verona Island; a beloved aunt to Claudia Gilbert and Nonie Varnum; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and four sisters, Corinne Gilbert, Hildred McIntyre, Thelma Meade, and Phyllis Meade. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 p.m. Monday, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Spring interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport.
