NEWBURGH – Myrtle D. Spiess, 82, wife of the late Robert Spiess, died July 23, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Corinna, daughter of Ovila and Mattie (Voisine) Paradis. Myrtle was a big-hearted caregiver. She was always caring for relatives and friends, and was willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed one. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Robert French and Colleen of Thomaston, Conn., Christine Rogers and Al of Groton, Conn., Wayne French and Sheila of Jacksonville, Fla., and William Spiess and Cheryl of Dixmont; a brother, Paul Paradis and Sandra of West Enfield; a sister, Lillian Hall of Chelsea; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by eight siblings, Andrew Paradis, Daniel Paradis, Dora Caron, Emily Gagnon, Lorraine Robshaw, Edmund Paradis, Sylvia Tozier and Orel Paradis. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Leo Catholic Church, Howland, with the Rev.
