WATERVILLE – Nancy Mary Sturtevant, 88, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon with her children at her side. She was born July 7, 1915, in Waterville, the daughter of Elias and Mary (Kassab) Karter. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Waterville High School, Class of 1934. She formerly was employed at McClellen’s Department Store on Main Street in Waterville for many years, and then worked for many years at K & C Market, which was a family-owned business. She was a charter member of the St. Joseph’s Maronite Guild. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert E. Sturtevant who passed away in 1986; three brothers, Simon, Michael and Jibryne Karter; and two sisters, Tekla Karter and Mary Karter Joseph. She is survived by her three sons, Robert Sturtevant and wife, Dale, of Oakland, Brian Sturtevant and wife, Janice, of China and Patrick Sturtevant and wife, Sandra, of Greenbush; one daughter, Karla Sturtevant and fiance, John Lord Jr., of South China; one sister, Anne Karter of Waterville; seven grandchildren, Karen, Heather, Derrick and wife, Shelia Brooks, Colby, Blake and Joseph Sturtevant; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Rachel Sturtevant; many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all of those who were the joy of her life. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St. Waterville. A Maronite Wake Service will be held 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Joseph Maronite Church, Front Street, Waterville, with the Rev. Mr. Peter Joseph officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville.
