HAMPDEN and WINTERPORT – Nelda Marcella (Glidden) Cole, 83, wife of the late, Charles “Oral” Cole Sr. passed away, Feb. 27, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 6, 1922, at Sherman Mills, the daughter of Joseph and Augusta (Collins) Glidden. Nelda was a longtime Winterport resident and had worked at Clements Hatchery in Winterport and Hampden Evans Shoe Company in Hampden. Nelda was always fun loving and a good sport, she enjoyed playing games, going out to eat, going for rides, traveling and even going for a ride with her son-in-law, Richard on his Honda Goldwing. Nelda will be remembered, as a loving and wonderful, wife and mother, who was never judgmental of others. She is survived by her eight children, Nancy E. and Jack McKay of Frankfort, Katharyn A. and Charles Parker of Middleburg, Fla., Lynda G. and Stewart Parker of Frankfort, Charles O. “Sonny” Cole Jr. and Sylvia Curtis of Brooks, Reginald J. and Pauline Cole Sr. of Frankfort, Carlton J. Cole and Deborah Rigby of Searsport, Sherry M. and Richard Freeman Sr. of Winterport, and Sandra J. and Robert W. Dunton of Hampden; one sister, Marjorie Morgan of Gorham; 30 grandchildren, many great- and many great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles “Oral” Cole, Sr. in 1989; and by a daughter, Norma M. Lavin in 1979; and by four brothers and two sisters. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden.
