AMHERST – Norman C. O’Halloran, 89, died Oct. 12, 2005, at his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Amherst, the son of Charles and Julia (Jewett) O’Halloran. Norman was a member of the Goodwill Grange of Amherst, the Green Mountain Pomona, and State and National Grange. He worked at Eastern Fine Paper Mill for many years and he took great pride in the Amherst Cemetery where he was sexton for more than 40 years. He is survived by two sons, Norman L. O’Halloran and his wife, Doris, of Brewer; Paul E. O’Halloran of Ellsworth; a daughter, Louise Day of Ellsworth; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James O’Halloran of New Hampshire; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Arthur; two sisters, Mary Fournier, and Katherine O’Halloran; one son-in-law, William Day. Friends are welcome to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral and committal service will be held 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, Director of Chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be in Amherst Cemetery.
