BELFAST and LINCOLN – Oakley C. Shedd Sr., 64, died Dec. 29, 2003, at a Bangor hospital, from injuries received in a snowmobile accident. He was born in Lincoln, July 27, 1939, the son of Wilfred Alonzo and Mary (Murphy) Shedd. Oakley served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Cuban Missile crisis. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Oakley liked to make people happy. In addition to his mother, Mary, he is survived by eight children, Oakley C. Shedd Jr., and his wife, Nanette, of Brunswick, James Shedd and his wife, Rebecca, of Sabattus, Jacob Shedd, Dustin Shedd, Amy, Ashley and Joshua Savage, all of Lincoln, and Steve Smith of Lisbon Falls; four grandchildren, Emily Shedd of Brunswick, Matthew Shedd and Katie Shedd, both of Sabattus, and Adam Thibeault of Brunswick; three sisters, Roberta Wren of Stockton Springs; Linda Shedd of Wisconsin, Sally Roberts of Monmouth; a brother, Douglas Shedd of Colorado; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Ralph Jacobs officiating.
