SCHENECTADY, N.Y., NAPLES, Fla. and COLUMBIA FALLS – Octave “David” Bailey, 68, passed away Saturday evening, Oct. 8, 2005, in Schenectady, N.Y., with his daughters by his side. David was born March 21, 1937, in Columbia Falls, son of the late Mary (Richard) and Gilbert Bailey Sr. David lived in Connecticut before moving to New York City and then Naples, Fla. Recently he lived in Schenectady with his daughter, Karen and her husband, John. While living in Connecticut and raising his family, he worked in bank management. After moving to New York City, David worked as an accountant with the Rockefeller Group. David was a kind man and had many friends in Maine, Connecticut, New York and Florida. David is survived by his daughters, Karen Smith and her husband, John, of Schenectady, N.Y. and Jean Esposito and her husband, Michael, of Middlefield, Conn. In addition to his daughters he leaves his brothers, Richard Bailey and friend, Jennifer Hoffses of Columbia Falls, Gilbert Bailey Jr. and special sister-in-law and friend, Gertrude, of Ellsworth; and sister, Christine Williams of Roland, Okla. He leaves a special niece, Debbie Austin and her husband, Jack, of Orland and several other nieces and nephews. He will be remembered fondly by many friends that include Dan McDonough, Terry Henry, Mike and Caroline Glenn and Denise Glenn, whom he became very close to in recent months. He leaves his four-legged friend, Teishi, whose name means “follower”, who was his constant companion. David was predeceased by his sister, Janice Griffin Rush of Houlton and Orland on July 3, 2005; sister-in-law, Maryellen Bailey and brother-in-law, Clayton Williams. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the family cemetery in Columbia Falls.
