BAR HARBOR – Olive Byron Norton, 94, died Sept. 23, 2004, in Bar Harbor. She was born June 19, 1910, in Linneus, the daughter of Percy and Alice (Farren) Byron. She was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute and Palmer’s School of Beauty Culture, Houlton. In 1932 she owned and operated Cinderella Beauty Shop, Bar Harbor, retiring in 1976. Olive was a member of MDI Hairdresser’s Club. She was an active member of the Maine State Cosmetology Association. She and her husband were among the many that joined with senior citizen’s clubs at Malvern Belmont. Olive was a past member and regent of Social Sylvia Circle, Daughters of Isabella and the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Olive is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Joseph G. Norton Jr. and Sandra, of Poland Spring, and Dr. Philip B. Norton and Sandra, of Bar Harbor; one daughter and son-in-law, Alice M. and Richard Trott Jr. of Brewer; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson; and a foster sister, Mrs. Daisy Rooks of Eugene, Ore. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Joseph Gardiner Norton Sr., in 1989. Friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Monday at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Bar Harbor. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Bar Harbor. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Olive’s memory may be made to the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 21 Ledgelawn Ave., Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
