NORTHEAST HARBOR – Olive W. Tourtelotte, 97, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at an Ellsworth nursing facility. She was born Jan. 20, 1909, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Irving L. and Josephine (Garland) Wilbur, where she spent her early years on her parent’s farm. In 1950, Olive married the most wonderful man in this world, Erbern W. Tourtelotte, if anyone deserves a crown in heaven he sure does. Olive was a member of the Mariaville and Mount Cadillac Grange for more than 70 years, also a member of the Green Mountain Pomona Grange, State and National Granges, The Asticou Lodge and the Senior Citizen Club of Northeast Harbor. She is survived by her husband, Erbern; and her three children, one daughter, Rebecca T. and her husband, Fredrick “Bud” Brown, of Northeast Harbor and twin sons, Malcolm A. and wife, Bernice Taylor, Marshall I. and his wife, Arlene Taylor, both of Rockford, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Rick, Robert and Thomas Brown, Lloyd and Lance Taylor, Rebecca, Arlene, Jerry and Jason Taylor; 21 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Paul and wife, Pat and Joseph and wife, Martha Firlotte; and a niece, Linda and husband, Eric Grindle. Olive was predeceased by her sister, Laura W. Firlotte; and a son, Carlton “Jerry” Taylor Jr. killed in the Korean War in 1953. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor. Arrangement by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert Island.
