GLENBURN and FRANKFORT – Susan G. Markle passed away Feb. 19, 2006, at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 29, 1948, in Phillipsburg, N.J., the daughter of Frank and Hazel (Chatham) Markle. Susan lived and worked in Winterport and Frankfort for many years. She was the proprietor of the Clinton Street Cafe, Bangor, which in later years moved to Winterport and was called the Clinton Street Cafe West. Susan was a member of the Winterport Volunteer Fire and Rescue and a former member of the Frankfort Fire Department. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 456 of Stewartsville, N.J. Susan had a passion for helping people with developmental disabilities. In her spare time she was an avid fan of Stephen King and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Amy L. Sandlin and her husband, Dean, of Stewartsville, N.J., Gene Smith Jr. of Allentown, Pa., Larry Heckler of Glenburn, Frank Heckler and his wife, Christina, of Knox and Samantha Rancourt and her husband, Billy, of Winterport; 12 grandchildren; two uncles and their wives, Richard and Margaret Markle and Roy and Patricia Hackman, both of Phillipsburg, N.J.; and her significant other, Janet Badger of Bangor. Susan was predeceased by both her parents. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, were a funeral will be held 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment in the springtime will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Winterport Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, P.O.
