OLLIS L. OLMSTEAD WOODLAND (AROOSTOOK COUNTY) – Ollis L. Olmstead, 102, died May 7, 2004, at a Caribou healthcare facility. He was born March 25, 1902, at Caribou, the son of Harvey and Delia (Wright) Olmstead. Ollis attended the Woodland and Caribou school systems. He farmed in Woodland for many years. He was also employed by Grants Dairy, Potato Service and the Woodland School as a bus driver and janitor. Ollis enjoyed hunting, fishing, making clocks, and even at 101, Ollis still enjoyed mowing his lawn. He is survived by four sons and their wives, Dale and Dodie Olmstead of Woodland, Norman and Jackie Olmstead of Shiro, Texas, Maynard and Elinor Olmstead of Walcott, Conn., and Wendall and Janet Olmstead of Plymouth, Conn.; a daughter, Marie Malm of Lancaster, S.C.; one son-in-law, Wilfred LeVasseur of Woodland; three daughters-in-law, Barbara Olmstead of Greenville, Tenn., Margaret Olmstead of Walcott, Conn. and Claudine Olmstead of Caribou; 40 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Martha of 63 years, four sons, Philip, Floyd, Dwain and Rodney Olmstead; a daughter, Leona LeVasseur; a son-in-law, Ronald Malm; and a daughter-in-law, Helen (Griffeth) Olmstead. Friends may call 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, until time of services. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Otto Palmer, officiating. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery.
