BANGOR – Omer J. Cyr, 88, husband of the late Beatrice (Lagasse) Cyr, died Jan. 22, 2008, at a Bangor nursing center. He was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Van Buren, the son of Alfred T. and Emma (Theriault) Cyr. Omer was a graduate of Madawaska High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for 40 years as a baker, first for Woolworth’s, Main Street, Bangor, and later for the University of Maine. Omer was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Surviving are five children, Llewellyn Cyr and his wife, Georgette, of Madawaska, Betty Feero and her husband, May-nard, of Bangor, Mary Drinkwater and her husband, Jerry, of Milford, Linda Hoy and her husband, Eddie, of Clinton, Mass., and Cynthia Cyr of Bangor; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife; one son, Robert Cyr; one daughter, Barbara Drinkwater; and was the last of 19 siblings. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, celebrant.
