OLAMON – Pamela B. McLaughlin, 58, “a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother,” went home to be with her Lord and Savior as she was surrounded by her family Friday March 25, 2005 at a Bangor hospital following a brief illness. She was born Sept. 23, 1946, in Old Town the daughter of Durward W. and Evelyn L. (Dunn) Carroll. Pamela was raised and lived in Olamon her entire life. She was a graduate of Lee Academy, Class of 1964. When she was on summer vacation in high school, Pamela was a vacation bible school teacher with the American Sunday School Union. She was a lifelong active member of the Faith Bible Church in Olamon and enjoyed playing the piano and organ there for many years, “the organ being her favorite.” She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Pamela was so proud to say that she was able to raise her children and family which was the most important thing to her. Following her children graduating from college, she was asked to be a hostess at McDonald’s where she had met so many wonderful people who all loved her dearly. Pamela also worked as a custodian at the Helen S. Dunn School “named after her grandmother,” where she enjoyed interacting with all the children. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 37 years, Richard; daughter, Amy Eastman and her husband, David, of Corinth; son, Alden McLaughlin and his wife, Sandi, of Olamon; daughter, Elizabeth Evans and her husband, Jim, of Olamon; five grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Aaron, Randy and Corey Eastman, Delani McLaughlin and Tanner Evans; her father, Durward Carroll of Lincoln, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, many special friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn L. (Dunn) Carroll. At Pamela’s request, there will be no visiting hours. A celebration of life will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Faith Bible Church in Olamon. Spring interment will be held at Gould’s Ridge Cemetery and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to Richard McLaughlin, P.O. Box 235 Olamon, ME 04467, funds will be dispersed for a project in the Olamon community and exact use will be determined at a later date.
