BLUE HILL – Patricia Ann (Howard) Pert died peacefully Wednesday, May 7, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at a Blue Hill hospital, after a long illness. She was born July 7, 1936, in Blue Hill, daughter of the late Edgar and Grace (Hooper) Howard. Known for her strong lifelong work ethic, Pat was a truly wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She prepared and served school lunch to generations of children, first, for nearly 20 years, at Blue Hill Consolidated School, and for the last 30 years at George Stevens Academy, her alma mater, retiring in 2006. George Stevens Academy students loved her for her jokes and advice, and her great shoulder always ready to lean on. Pat belonged to the OES, Rebekahs and First Congregational Church of Blue Hill. She was predeceased by her parents and an infant sister. Pat is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Merle Pert Jr.; her daughter, Vickie Atherton and her husband, Paul; her son, Daniel and his wife, Corinne, all of Blue Hill; four grandchildren, Daniel Atherton and his wife, Jennifer, Jennie Damon and her husband, Brian, Mandy Ladd and her husband, Andrew, and Timothy Pert and his wife, Jenny; 10 great-grandchildren and three more on the way. Pat will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill, with the Rev. David W. Davis officiating. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Blue Hill.
