COLUMBIA FALLS – Patricia Abbott MacNamee, 93, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at a Jonesport healthcare facility. She was born Nov. 12, 1911, in Columbia the daughter of Frank Perley and Venia M. (White) Abbott. Pat was a graduate of Wilton Academy, Class of 1928. She attended Bates College, graduating in 1934. While a student at Bates, Pat was very active in sports and student government, and has remained a strong supporter of the Bates College Alumni Association. After graduating from Bates College, she attended Katherine Gibbs in Boston. Pat worked for the U.S. Government, first for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, then at M.I.T., in conjunction with the Quoddy Tidal Project, where she met her husband, William. In 1939, Pat and Bill were married and moved to Pennsylvania, where she was active in many organizations. She was president of the Adult School Board, and a member of the National Girl Scouts Council, and many Women’s Clubs, and was a lifelong member of the Llanerch Presbyterian Church in Havertown, Pa. In 1993, Pat and Bill retired to Columbia Falls, where she became active in the D.A.R., Hannah Weston Chapter. She is survived by three children, Dr. Richard MacNamee and Pat D’Alessio of Hyde Park, N.Y., Suzanne Fox and her husband, Ray, of Columbia Falls, and Linda MacNamee of Barcelona, Spain; three grandchildren, Sean Simmons and his wife, Leanne, of Springville, Pa., Billy and Kathy Fox of Columbia Falls; four great-grandchildren, Sean, Susan, Troy, and Ryan Simmons; a daughter-in-law, Betsy MacNamee of Poughkeepsie, NY; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Bill MacNamee; and three sisters, Lillian Abbott Butterfield, Sylvia Abbott Wittman, and Ardena Abbott Greene. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, Columbia Falls. Interment will be at Mailley Hill Cemetery, Columbia. Arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge.
