BANGOR – Patrick John Kelly, 75, died Monday, April 3, 2006, at his home in Bangor. Pat was born Feb. 6, 1931, in Bangor, to George and Martha (McHale) Kelly. He attended local schools and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Pat was passionate about many things, but his greatest passions and dedication was to his God, his family and friends, and his country. Pat served his God by his caring, compassion and generosity to his parents, brothers and sisters and extended family. Here he found his greatest joy and fulfillment. He found joy and support as well from his many friends in the Bangor area and was always grateful for the gifts they shared with him. In 1949, Pat joined the U.S. Army and made service to his country a career in which he took great pride and offered great dedication. Pat served during the Korean War and in a variety of military posts in Asia, Europe and the United States, over his 20 years of service. After his retirement from the Army, Pat worked in the Portland area, and then in Bangor at the University of Maine Campus, finally retiring in 1975. Pat was an avid sports fan and enjoyed rooting for his favorite team, Notre Dame. He is survived by his sisters, Theresa M. Kelly of Veazie, Frances E. Murray of Indialantic, Fla., Helen A. Colford of Bangor, Corena A. Kelly of Bangor, Margaret R. Kelly of Bangor; two brothers, Roland W. Kelly of Bangor and Rev. Anthony J. Kelly of Hernando, Miss.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Kay; and a brother, Lawrence H. Kelly. Relatives and friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a prayer service will be held 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Pat’s brother, Fr. Anthony J. Kelly, principle celebrant. Interment will be in the family lot at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery.
