BANGOR – Paul Richard Flanagan, 65, of Bangor, died unexpectedly Oct. 15, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born in Brewer, Aug. 3, 1938, the son of John Holland and Sophie (Tardy) Flanagan. Paul was a graduate of John Bapst High School, a U.S. Army veteran and employed by the Standard Shoe Company of Bangor for 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Judy (Pelkey) Flanagan of Bangor; two sons, Mark A. Pelkey and his wife, Donna, of Gorham, John H. Flanagan and his wife, Laurie, of Bangor; one daughter, Kari J. Dow and her husband, Josh H., of Hampden; six grandchildren, Todd, Mallory, Tyler, Abbigail, Derek, and Christopher; one sister, Patricia Dawes of Florida; a special nephew, Jeff Flanagan of Brewer; and other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Bob and Jim; and a special grandson, Shawn Patrick. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., following the funeral mass Monday.
