VEAZIE – Robert “Bob” Thomas Fenderson, 56, died peacefully Oct. 15, 2003, in his home after a long illness of multiple system atrophy. He was born Aug. 15, 1947, in Calais, the son of Frank and Ruby (Grieve) Fenderson. Bob attended Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon, Mass. before attending the University of Maine at Orono and receiving a BS in Accounting and Finance. After college Bob entered the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where he was a first lieutenant and an instructor of radio communications. Later, he became president of F.H. Fenderson, Inc., Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders. Bob loved his family and spending time with his children. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his woodlot and at his cottage. He also was an active member of All Souls Congregational Church. He was predeceased by his father, Frank. Bob is survived by his wife, Margrette of Veazie; mother, Ruby of Bangor; his brother, David Fenderson and wife, Durrell of Veazie; his sister, Carolyn LaPointe and her husband, Ray of Glocester, R.I.; his five children, Kathryn Scott and husband, Charles, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jennifer Fenderson and husband, Kirk Elms, of Rogersville, Mo., Matthew Amsden of Boston, Mass., Jason Amsden of Boston, Mass., and Mary Gatchell-Fenderson of Veazie; two grandchildren, River Elms and Mac Scott; as well as many dear friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life 2 p.m. Sunday, at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix pastor and teacher, and Rev. Renee Garret, Minister of Christian Nurture, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments in the church vestry following the services.
