BANGOR – Paul R. Haley, 57, found peace Sept. 10, 2005. He was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Bangor, the son of Michael and Edith (Maddocks) Haley. Paul served in the U.S. Army for four years and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was a Husson College graduate. Throughout his career in accounting, he was employed by Brewer IGA, Carl Smith Foods and the Maine Department of Labor. Paul was treasurer of the NAMI affiliate in Bangor. Paul felt that his most treasured gift in life was his wife and two children. His greatest source of pride was witnessing his children successfully enter adulthood. Paul is survived by his wife of 32 years, Priscilla (Leighton) Haley; his daughter, Erika Norris and husband, Chad, of Newburgh; son, Camden of Goffstown, N.H.; and in-laws, Janet Butler of Blue Hill and William and Anu Leighton of Southington, Conn. He felt especially blessed with his two grandsons, Tyler and Kolby Norris; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and two very special aunts. A special thank you to Dr. Miklos Simon, the staff of Cancer Care of Maine and to the “angels of care” on EMMC’s sixth floor, for their compassion and understanding during Paul’s illness. An informal Celebration of his life will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at the First Baptist Church, 56 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Stephanie Salinas officiating. Family and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a contribution in Paul’s memory to the Palliative Care Program, EMMC, P.O. Box 404, Bangor, ME 04402-0404. The Palliative Care Program assisted Paul in receiving care and dignity during his end of life journey. <
