STOCKTON SPRINGS Paula E. (Rogerson) Grindel, 72, died Feb. 16, 2004, at her home. She was born April 9, 1931, in East Machias, the daughter of John and Aimee (Berry) Rogerson. She was raised on Kings Mountain in Orrington, enjoyed writing poetry, playing cards, watching the Red Sox, knitting hats and mittens, many of which she donated, and was a devoted wife and mother. Paula is survived by four daughters, Delores Johnson and husband, Phil, of Hudson, Lisa Robin Fraser and husband, Brian, of Stockton Springs, Paula Smith and husband, Bruce, of Stockton Springs, Ena Cruz of Iowa; six sons, Dwight Bowden and wife, Betty, of Stockton Springs, Randall Bowden and wife, Terry, of Florida, Mitchell Bowden of Iowa, Neil Gibbons and wife, Janet, of Colorado; Gerald Grindel Jr. and wife, Sue, of Virginia, Andrew Grindel and wife, Aimee, of Prospect; five sisters, Nancy Reed and husband, Dick, of Brewer, Alice Reed and husband, Charles, of Otis, Margaret Hanscom of Orrington, Shirley Atherton of Winthrop, and Margaret Robbins; one brother, Richard Rogerson and wife, Marcia, of Brewer; many nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; 18 great-grandchildren; and the love of her life, Little Zoey. Paula was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Grindel Sr., in 1988; son, Terry Grindel, in 1972; three sisters, Clarice McGoon, Myra “Arlene” Dugan and Vivian Robbins. A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at the Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport, with Pastor Wilton Rose officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Stockton Springs. Donations in Paula’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330-5615.
