LINNEUS – Paulene G. Stewart, 85, died Jan. 25, 2008, in Portland. She was born June 25, 1922, in Linneus, daughter of Ester (Byron) and Uberto Hand. She is survived by one son, David and his wife, Jean, of Raymond; three grandchildren, Cheryl Mason of Portland, Rhonda Fertich of Aspers, Pa., and Dale Stewart of Topsham; nine great-grandchildren, Eric, Laura, Nicole and Chad Mason, Ben, Hannah and Rachel Fertich, Jeanette and Anneke Stewart; one brother, Roger Hand and his wife, Carol; one sister-in-law, Gail Hand; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Merle; two brothers and two sisters. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Linneus Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. James Pittman officiating. Interment will be at Linneus Cemetery.
