HUDSON, N.H. – Pauline (Shorey) Howe, 92, of Megan Drive, died late Wednesday night, Feb. 25, 2004, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 15, 1911, in Lowell, the daughter of the late George and Besse (Cunningham) Shorey. Mrs. Howe was the wife of the late Rev. Harvey M. Howe, whom she married on Oct. 17, 1931, in Mars Hill. He was the founding Pastor of the United Pentecostal Church of Hudson, N.H., and the superintendent of Central New England District of the United Pentecostal Church, International. The Rev. Harvey M. Howe died in December of 1985. Mrs. Howe graduated from Howland High School, Class of 1930. Except for a brief period in Southington, Conn., she lived in Maine until moving to Manchester, N.H., in 1957. Since 1965, she has lived in Hudson, N.H., and was a member of the Hudson United Pentecostal Church, where she served as church treasurer for more than 30 years. For many years she also taught Sunday School classes and worked closely with her husband in various church activities. She loved her family and enjoyed caring for them, along with entertaining the many guests who visited her home. She was especially known for her homemade rolls, doughnuts and date crumbles. She enjoyed reading and knitting mittens for her grandchildren. Mrs. Howe was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Shorey and Clifford Shorey; as well as by five sisters, Pearl Shorey, Jennie Willet, Lucy Shorey, Thelma Trundy and Erma Hilchey. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Delmont H. and Sandra Howe of Fort Smith, Ark., Rev. David L. and Jane Howe of Hudson, with whom she lived, Rev. Paul E. and Deborah Howe of Nashua, N.H., and James P. Howe of San Mateo, Fla.; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Lois P. and Oscar Chandler of Manchester, N.H., Mary L. and Richard Dame of Hudson, N.H., Phyllis E. and Allen Merchant of Addison; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marion and Ernest Cook of Auburn, and W. Leota Peavey of Corinth; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Shorey of Bangor, and Patricia Shorey of Bristol, Conn.; as well as 28 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson, N.H. All are invited to a funeral service that will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the United Pentecostal Church of Hudson, 123 Derry Road, Hudson, N.H. Burial will be in Hills Farm Cemetery, Hudson, N.H.
