BREWER and COOPER Richard Anthony Niles, 64, passed away Feb. 26, 2004, at his home in Brewer after a long illness. He was born April 26, 1939, in Calais, the son of William H. and Margaret E. (Barton) Niles. Before moving to Brewer Richard worked as a woodsman in the Cooper area and as a janitor in New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, William; and sisters, Pearl and Joyce. He is survived by five nephews, William, Kenneth, Dana, Michael and David Niles; one niece, Debbie Demmons; a sister-in-law, Jeannette Niles; cousins, Grace Edgerly and Paul Niles; family friends, John Haley, Sandy Munson and his girlfriend, Susan Sweeney. Richard and Susan enjoyed fishing and playing with her cat, Snowball. Richard touched the lives of many people he met. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, at OHI, 242 State St., Brewer. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Eastern Maine, P.O. Box 404, Bangor, ME 04401. A graveside committal service will be held at the family lot at the Cooper Cemetery in the spring at a time to be announced by Foley Funeral Service.
