ISLESBORO and BANGOR – Pauline T. York, 88, passed away May 3, 2005, at a Bangor hospital after a short illness. She was born March 9, 1917, in Islesboro, the daughter of Melvin and Fannie (Foster) Trim. Pauline married her high school sweetheart, Willis York, on Aug. 1, 1935. She was an active member of the Islesboro community, serving as town clerk for many years. Even after her retirement as town clerk, she could be found counting ballots at the annual town meetings. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, the “Up Island” and “Down Island” sewing circles and the yearly church fairs where she could usually be found behind the candy table. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Roger Pendleton of Bangor; grandsons, Trevor Pendleton and Ali Mackey of Davie, Fla., Brent and Holly Pendleton of West Roxbury, Mass.; niece, Janet Gilligan of Sheffield, Mass.; nephew, Harris Pendleton of Belfast; special friends, John and Jessica Oldham; and her very special granddog, Maggie Mae. She was predeceased by Willis in 1988 and by her sister, Lydia Pendleton in 1990. A memorial service to celebrate Pauline’s life will be announced at a later date.
