MILLINOCKET – Perley L. Brown, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 9, 1913, in Millinocket, one of 13 children born to John and Mabel (Gildart) Brown. He was a lifelong resident of Millinocket where he attended Stearns High School. He later entered the U.S. Army to serve his country during World War II. He married the love of his life, Margaret (Costello) Brown, who predeceased him in 1968. In the prime of his life, Perley was an avid bowler and pool player, competing in several leagues. He also enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage and reading Western books. Perley worked for Great Northern Paper Co., retiring in 1975. He is survived by his children, Paul Michael Brown and his wife, Patty, of Phoenix, Ariz., Richard Brown and his wife, Becky, of Chester, Robert Brown and his wife, Betty, of Bangor, Mary Brown of Penacook, N.H., Martha Frost and her husband, Bob, of Millinocket; two brothers, John Brown of Millinocket and Ralph Brown of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Elsie “Peggy” Simpson of Millinocket and Thelma Parsons of Rockland; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at the funeral home.
