SEDGWICK – Peter Brooks Urban, 48, died Friday, April 16, 2004, in New Jersey. He resided in Sedgwick and Princeton, N.J. Born and raised in Trenton, N.J., he lived in Sedgwick, New Hampshire, Maryland, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey throughout his life. He was a self-employed contractor who built several custom-made homes. He served as the director of C.O.P.E. for the New Jersey AFL-CIO in the 1970s. He co-founded Cobb Hill Construction in Concord, N.H., in 1986. While residing in Maryland, he worked at the National Gallery of Art as a master carpenter, later becoming head shop steward. Mr. Urban attended Trenton Central High School in New Jersey, and completed his coursework for an Associate Arts degree at Portland Community College in Portland, Ore. He completed more than 100 hours of flight training and flew a C-152 aircraft solo. Mr. Urban’s interests and hobbies were vast. He had recently taken up pottery with his good friend Pam. He also loved horticulture, photography, traveling, genealogical research, drafting and politics. He was the son of the late Philip Wells Urban and the late Malla Brooks Urban. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Philip Urban and Susan Jenkins-Urban of Sedgwick; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Christine and Thomas Avallone of Concord, N.H., Rebecca Urban and six nieces and nephews, Dustin and Chloe Urban, Carey, Lee, Jill and Nick Avallone. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. A memorial service was held April 24, in Princeton, N.J. A ceremony will be held this summer on his land in Sedgwick.
